Paper Engineering

I've always loved pop up books, and always thought they were impossible to recreate. This week I've been playing around, getting to grips with paper folding etc, the following photos are a few pages out of my sketch book, very basic, but helping me get my head round different techniques.

Here is a peice of clay that i have decorated with a wax resist, wax crayons and indian ink. I'm pleased with the overall texture, what do you think? eh eh?

I loved the word last week, but had a job interview and didn't have chance to create my idea. You have all probably had enough of doors, but decided to submit my layered tunnel book regardless! I had a lot of fun making it!

For this week's task i wanted to produce some pattern work. I developed my pattern looking at a photograph of a cancer cell, i thought the idea of producing something nice to look at from something so evil, might be an interesting idea. As you can see i cut out my pattern in MDF and then took a couple of prints from them. Hope you like them!
